Join the Antifascist Fiction Club

We’ve talked a lot about Fireside’s mission of resisting fascism and far-right populism. We’ve gotten a lot of positive response from our readers to this, and we wanted to give you all a way to show that you’re not lying down in the face of hatred, bigotry, and violence.

So our design and technology director, Pablo Defendini, designed this fantastic hard enamel pin.

Antifascist Fiction Club Pin

Right now, the only way to get a pin is to back a new $20 reward level on our Patreon. (If you’re already a Patreon backer you can upgrade your pledge to get the pin.) We’ll use $5 of every pledge to support the Southern Poverty Law Center and the American Civil Liberties Union each month on your behalf. We think their respective missions of monitoring hate groups and defending our rights in a time of unprecedented attack are essential in the resistance.

We may never get a perfect happily ever after, but this doesn’t have to end in darkness. Donald Trump and Marine LePen and Nigel Farage and all their ilk don’t get to write the end of this story. We do.

Welcome to the Antifascist Fiction Club.

About the author

Brian J. White

Brian White started Fireside in 2012 with a Kickstarter and a whole lot of love. Over the next five years as editor and publisher – with the help of his amazing team and of Lauren, his wife and partner in crime – he expanded Fireside from a one-off magazine to a monthly publication to its current form, a site with weekly fiction and occasional nonfiction. Fireside published 150 stories under his tenure, as well as five novels and one novella. He is deeply proud to have had a part in bringing those stories into the world. He was gratified to have proved that writers can be paid more for their work than the industry accepted, and perhaps most proud of the #BlackSpecFic report that Fireside published in 2016. He stepped down as editor and publisher in the summer of 2017, but he remains an equity partner in the company.
